Bigfoot Discovery Museum

I was a huge Bigfoot buff when I was a kid. I read all of the books I could find, I watched all of the documentaries, and I followed all of the alleged Sasquatch sightings reported in the newspapers. My greatest childhood hope was either to actually encounter Bigfoot or at least to see the UFO on which he flew to our stupid little planet. Unfortunately, neither of those thngs ever occured.

What I did recently get the chance to do was visit the Bigfoot Discovery Museum in Felton, California. Often I have passed by this treasure on motorcycle rides through the area, but it always seemed to be closed. As chance would have it, on a recent car trip through the Santa Cruz Mountatins I spotted the elusive “Yes, We’re Open” sign and so stopped in finally to have a look.

Outside is a collection of artworks – including wood sculpures and murals – dedicated to Sasquatch. Inside you will find newspaper articles, video footage, plaster casts of footprints and various types of Bigfoot memorialbila (including the GI Joe Snow Adventurer and Yeti dolls!)

After browsing the cramped quarters and depositing some cash in the donation jar, I spoke with the white-bearded proprieter of the establishment to ask him about any recent encounters. He told me, in fact, that there have been reports within the last few months of Bigfoot sightings in the area!

I left feeling happy and fulfilled. After all, even if I’ve never seen Bigfoot, at least I can rest assured that someone in my neck-of-the-woods has!
